Segovia works with a wide range of mobile network operators, banks, and other financial institutions to send customer funds to people in emerging markets. We are looking for a strategic thinker who loves working with large, complex institutions to help expand our payment network, including managing the end-to-end processes of introducing new products in new markets.

The Strategic Expansion Manager will report to our Chief Operating Officer and will be in charge of implementing expansion initiatives, including overseeing (in coordination with other team members) prioritization of new markets, new providers and new products, regulatory reviews, contract negotiations, technical integrations and related endeavors. The role is based in London (Sutton) - strongly preferred - or New York and will require significant travel to Africa.

Specifically, you will :
● Work with the Operations, Customer Satisfaction, Product and Business Development teams to plan Segovia’s expansion with new markets, new partners and new products
● Conduct research and due diligence on attractive new payout countries and partners
● Facilitate onboarding of new last-mile payment providers, including: identification of high-value counterparties, production and presentation of introductory materials (business case), negotiation of engagement terms (commercials, platform access, etc), review and management of contract(s), etc.
● Develop an understanding of regulatory requirements across markets and resultant potential competitive advantages / value-added services
● Work with the Compliance team to engage local regulators, including drafting and presenting materials to various central banks
● Engage with local advisers (lawyers, accountants, board members, industry contacts, etc.) to build and maintain local market domain expertise
● Create and maintain internal/external resources to disseminate market/provider/product knowledge across the organization and to current/potential customers

We expect you have:
● 4+ years of experience in a top tier professional services job or in a payments role
● Proven managerial experience
● Willing and excited to travel for extended periods of time in Africa
● Experience working with businesses in emerging markets and making friends with busy decision-makers (bonus: previous experience working with mobile money providers and/or emerging market regulators)
● A fantastic entrepreneurial spirit to knock on doors and get the right people to rapidly advance your goals
● Ability to find creative solutions to achieving your objectives in-country

We would be ecstatic if you have:
● Foreign language skills (French in particular)
● Background in legal services or working with legal documents
